Welcome to the first running of the Tour de Delhi. It gives me great pleasure in my capacity of Race Director to welcome old friends and new faces to the colourful and bustling surroundings of Delhi, India.
As little as twelve months ago, there were no plans to host any Internationally ranked cycling events in India, outside of those programmed for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in the city of Delhi. It gives me great pride, to say to you that, following the huge success of the Mumbai Cyclothon, we will promote India’s second Internationally ranked event on the UCI calendar for 2010.
It has only been through great co-operation from the Cycling Federation of India and the International Cycling Union (UCI) that we have been able to undertake and achieve what we have done in 2010 in India.
Let me tell you that the aims here are big, and in 2011 we hope to move our events up the ranking on the International Calendar. We thank you immensely for coming and helping and assisting in the development of our events. We hope to see you back in 2011.
